Book: The Viagra Diaries
The book of the week: The Viagra Diaries, written by Barbara Rose Brooker.
The Viagra Diaries is the story of Anny Applebaum. She is seventy, ambitious, and writes The Viagra Diaries, a weekly column, researching love after 60. She interviews sixty-plus men she meets on the Internet, singles sites, and on JDate. She meets seventy-five year old Marv Rothstein, an emotionally unavailable, successful diamond dealer. Anny and Marv fall in love and have a passionate affair. Very soon Anny discovers that Marv is a serial JDater, can't face aging, and is on the prowl for younger women.
She writes about him and her columns gain national recognition and Hollywood interest. Anny struggles with her conflicts about Marv, aging, her 41-year-old unmarried daughter, and her own fears of closeness. Anny takes the reader through her funny, insightful account of a woman ignoring the fallacies of age, romantic love, sex, and surprising new choices.
