Bizarre sexual traditions

These sexual traditions make you remember how good we have it nowadays and in our country...

1. Drinking semen
To become a man with the Sambians you are separated from women at the age of seven, after which you have to live with only men for ten years. Their skin is pierced to remove contamination by women. For the same reason they will stimulate nose bleeds and vomiting. Besides that they have to drink the semen of the elders. When they return to the women they will keep stimulating nose bleeds when their wives have their periods.

2. Penis mutilation
With the Mardudjara it starts with the circumcision of the penis after which the young men has to ingest his foreskin. When the penis has healed it is cut in half and the blood is dripped onto fire for cleansing.

3. Sex
At a tribe in New Guinea children start having sex at a very young age. Girls start when they’re six to eight years old and boys when they’re ten to twelve. It is allowed to have as much sex as you’d like, but be careful with romantic dinners, that’s only allowed after marriage.

4. Mud rolling.
In Haïti the godess of love is worshipped every year. Sounds pretty normal, but it is done in quite an eccentric way… A herd of naked people rolls through mud that’s mixed with the blood of sacrificed animals and a couple of cow and goat heads to finish it. Lovely.

5. Brothers share a wife
In the Himalayas brothers share a wife. The reason is actually quite simple and logical families owned little land. When they gave birth to two or more boys the land had to be divided so each of them could start their own family, but there was simply not enough land for that.

6. Stealing wifes
At the Wodaabi it is normal that the first marriage is organised and takes place with a cousin. At the annual Gerewol Festival men try to steal a new wife. If they succeed to sneak out quietly the marriage is accepted. It is then called a love marriage.

7. Masturbating in public
According to the legend the low and high tide of the Nile are caused by the ejaculation of the god of creation. For this reason pharaohs would regularly ejaculate in the Nile. The Egyptians found masturbation so inspiring that there was a festival at which men masturbated in public.

8. Completely out of the closet
In ancient Greece it wasn’t important whether a sexual act was performed between a man and a woman or two men. It was all about the role you played during penetration. The active role was seen as masculine and the passive role as feminine.

9. Paedophilia
In Greece most homosexual relations existed between an older man and a younger boy. It was however inappropriate to love a boy younger than twelve. It was all about a man giving wisdom and being a role model, the boy would give beauty and youth in return.

10. Temporary marriages
In some Muslim countries, like Iran, it is possible to request for a temporary marriage. The idea is that you can have unlimited sex and then divorce again so you can go and find a real partner.
