Zits, the Causes

Zits: we all have them from time to time, especially when winter is coming and the weather is fluctuating. Unfortunately there are lots of different causes, but luckily all these causes have a solution!

1. Touching your face
Your cell phone, laptop, the handrail in the train, they’re all filled with bacteria. It’s no surprise that it’s terrible to touch your face a lot during the day. All the bacteria from your hands are then instantly moved to your face, which is an important cause of zits. Try to avoid your face as much as possible, if this is hard for you, find something to keep your hands busy!


2. Dairy products
When you digest too much dairy that’s hard to process for your body. The body will get rid of things it doesn’t agree with through your skin, which includes a surplus of dairy. Try avoiding any dairy products for two weeks and see if you notice a difference.


3. Stress
Stress will worsen your skins condition and cause zits. When stressful, a surplus of cortisol is made, which will make your sebaceous glands produce more oil. This is why people have more zits during stressful periods. Make sure you get enough sleep, which is the easiest way to somewhat reduce stress.


4. Make-up in bed
The make-up, dirt and oil that are on your face at the end of the day are an important cause of zits if you don’t wash your face before bed. If you know you won’t feel like doing the whole cleansing ritual before bed, try starting that a little earlier, for instance before watching television on the couch.


5. Hand cream
With this cold it’s not so odd you’ll want to apply a rich hand cream on your hands, but if you sleep with your hands on your face the cream will transfer to an area that doesn’t agree with it so well. Pay attention to it, and if this is the case, you can best sleep with cotton gloves.


6. The weather
With the change of seasons, the weather is very likely to fluctuate a lot, which can confuse your skin. A change in the weather means a change in your skin care products. Don’t immediately exchange everything for severe anti acne products, but stick to just one different one.


7. Conditioner
If you have zits on the sides of your face of on your back it could be because of the conditioner you use for your hair. Wash, after rinsing your conditioner, your back and face extra thoroughly, so all the conditioner residue is off of your skin.
