DIY Galaxy Jeans
Galaxy jeans are jeans with the complete galaxy printed on them, and they have gotten pretty populair the last year. To save you some money we’ve found a fun tutorial to make your own pair! We’re absolutely sure everyone has at least one old black jeans in his closet, so no reason not to try this DIY from TheSunWasHigh.
What you’ll need:
- A black pair of jeans
- Spray bottle filled with 2 parts bleach and 1 part cold water
- Acrylic paint, this tutorial used white, blue, magenta and red
- An old toothbrush
- Spunge
- Containers to mix paint in
Step 1.
Spread your jeans across old newspapers or plastic bags to protect the floor.
Step 2.
Spray bleach on the jeans. Don’t spray too much at once, wait until orange spots appear. If you want to make the spots more intense you can spray some more bleach on.
Step 3.
Mix the first colour and use the sponge to apply it around the orange spots. This will give the spots some more dimension. If you blend the different colours a little it will give it a bit of a softer look, but don’t forget to rinse the sponge once in a while.
Step 4.
Lighten some places by applying some white paint.
Step 5.
Time for stars! Fill a little container with water and add a little white paint. Dip the toothbrush in and make splashes by pulling back the hairs of the brush with your fingers. If the splashes disappear you’ll need to add some more paint.
Step 6.
Time for the final adjustments, see if the jeans is entirely in theme or if there are still some spots that need some touch ups.
Step 7.
Let the jeans dry and then do the same with the backside!
Step 8.
Look at the seams. If they look kind of weird you can spray some bleach on them and add some more stars.
