Sun Protecting Mythes

We’ll help to end to myths around sun protection. Five myths invalidated.

Mythe 1: It’s good to get a base tan before going into the sun.
Wrong! Better use higher sun protection than getting a base tan; otherwise you'll burn anyway.

Mythe 2: Applying sunscreen in the morning is enough for protection all day long against the sun.
Wrong! This is only enough for incidental sun exposure. If you plan on spending the whole day in the sun it’s better to put on another layer of sunscreen every one or two hours.

Mythe 3: My dark skin never burns, so I don’t need sunscreen.
Wrong! Let the melanoma of Bob Marley be a good example for everyone with a dark skin. Everyone has to protect themselves with sunscreen, no matter what your skin type is.

Mythe 4: Everyone has to spend loads of time in the sun to get enough vitamin D.
Wrong! You will get vitamin D even when you are protected with sunscreen and even if you’re sitting in the shade. Being outside during the day is enough exposure to make the vitamin D you need.

Mythe 5: As long as I use sun protection I can bake in the sun all day long.
Wrong! Sun protection isn’t always strong enough to protect you from everything. Stay out of the sun between 12 and 3 when the sun is the strongest. It’s better to spend that time in the shade.
