Havin Your Period = Two Days Off
Everyone probably agrees that being on your period is not much of a party. In Russia it’s apparently so severe that women should get two days off of work during their period. At least, that is what politician and lawmaker Mikhail Degtyaryov thinks, he asked the Russian parliament to give women two days paid leave a month when they’re menstruating. According to Degtyaryov most women experience psychological and physical discomforts. The pain is often so intense that it is often necessary to call an ambulance. At this moment, we can only imagine hundreds, thousands of ambulance a day, loaded with aspirin and chocolate… He also says that women are more tired because of the pain, their memory is not as good and they work less efficient.

The parliament doesn’t get together till September, so we’ll have to wait a while to see whether this law will actually get there. Human right campaigners have dismissed the proposal as absurd and sexist.

We secretely think that Degtyaryov’s wife just wanted some peace and quiet a few days a month and thus faked the severe pain…
